Both Samuel Skinner KC and Sebastian Walker have separately authored commentaries and headnotes in the fifth issue of the 2025 Lloyd’s Law Reports: Financial Crime.
Samuel Skinner KC’s commentary on FCA v Osyunkoya [2025] Lloyd’s Rep FC 191 concerns the first occasion on which the FCA have prosecuted regulatory offences relating to the use of unlicenced Crypto Asset ATMs a tool potentially used for significant money laundering.
Sebastian Walker’s commentary on R v Ovsiannikov and Ovsiannikow [2025] Lloyd’s Rep FC 196 concerns the sentences imposed for the first defendants to be successfully prosecuted for an offence under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, a sanctions regime aimed at “encouraging Russia to cease actions which destabilise Ukraine, or undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine”. It examines the inter-relationship between those offences and money laundering offences.
Both Samuel and Sebastian are frequently instructed in large, paper-heavy, complex financial crime cases and are available for instruction in this area.
Since January of this year Sebastian has been the general co-editor of Lloyd’s Law Reports: Financial Crime.
