The Civil Justice Council has published its final report on the use of AI in preparing court documents.
Paul Schwartfeger was pleased to be part of the team that prepared Combar – The Commercial Bar Association’s response to the consultation. One point Paul was particularly keen to make was the case for a functional, risk-based approach: focusing on what AI has actually been used to do and the risks arising from that use, rather than attempting to regulate particular tools or categories of technology.
This is an interesting and important report, and an important contribution to the developing discussion around the responsible use of AI in civil justice.
Paul also extends thanks to colleagues on the COMBAR consultation group for the thoughtful discussions and collaborative work that went into the response to the CJC: Helen Evans KC, Shobana Iyer, Clare Baker, David Blayney, Nigel Brook, Amanda Lord, Jeffrey Gruder KC, John Kimbell KC, Karishma Vora, Phoebe Whitlock and John Williams.
