36 Stone welcomes Kishore Sharma

36 Stone are delighted to welcome Kishore Sharma as a new member of chambers.

Kishore is a senior and experienced barrister, his experience enhances the Stone team’s practice across our three core areas of Shipping & Commodities, International Arbitration and Commercial Litigation. As well as his practice at the self-employed bar, Kishore has worked as an employed barrister in the market leading teams at Clyde & Co and Walton & Morse (now Kennedy’s Marine). Kishore is ranked as a leading shipping junior by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. The directories’ comments include that he is ‘exceptionally bright and has a very wide knowledge of the various aspects of the shipping and trading industry.’

Kishore’s recent work highlights include:

  • Advising marine cargo insurers on special clauses covering refusal of the master to transit the Red Sea because of Houthi rebel action.
  • Advising on “holding certificate” documentation under an intended CIF sale of copper electrodes worth approximately US$43 million.
  • Obtaining an urgent order in the Commercial Court on behalf of vessel owners for sale of a perishable bulk cargo of virally infected wheat under s. 44 Arbitration Act 1996.
  • Applying for an anti-suit injunction and order preserving assets under s. 44 Arbitration Act 1996 in an unusual and complex multi-partite shipping dispute: (The “ESHIPS PROGRESS”) [2023] 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 595 (Jacobs J)
