The 36 Group appoints New Joint Heads of Chambers

The 36 Group is pleased to announce that William Tyler KC will be taking up a second term of office as Joint Head of Chambers, with Christopher Donnellan KC. Chambers thanks Vasanti Selvaratnam KC, who is stepping down after a successful 4-year term leading The 36 Group.

Speaking on her resignation from the role, Vasanti said: “Working alongside William as Joint Heads of Chambers has been a real pleasure. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading such a collegiate and successful set; however, the time has come for me to fully focus on my own practice as Counsel and International Arbitrator. I wish Christopher all the best in the role and know he will be excellent and committed.”

William Tyler KC will be continuing in his position as Head of Chambers. Prior to this, William was the Head of 36 Family, and also sits as a Deputy High Court Judge. Appearing in some of the most high-profile and complex cases in both Public and Private Law, William has extensive experience with cases in the Court of Appeal and the UK Supreme Court.

Speaking on his experience, Will has said: “Over the past 4 years, Vasanti and I have worked hard to ensure that The 36 Group maintains its outstanding reputation. Chambers has long been firmly established as a leading set across our multiple specialisms. I look forward to working alongside Christopher as we continue to forge forward. Christopher Donnellan KC will be vacating his seat as Head of the 36 Crime to take on his new role as Joint Head of the 36 Group. He has an extensive background in prosecuting and defending in homicide and other serious and complex Crime.  He has a wider expertise, including cases involving death in the workplace, and co-authored the response of the Bar to the Corporate Manslaughter Bill and gave evidence to the House of Commons Committee. Christopher is a Crown Court Recorder.
