Mary Prior KC delivers Court Skills training to Leicester Police CAID and EMSOU Major Crime Investigators

Mary Prior KC

Mary Prior KC recently delivered Court Skills training to Leicester Police CAID and EMSOU Major Crime Investigators.

With the help of DI David Greenhalgh and DS Jon Davies, Mary shared insights spanning the rules and structure of a trial, counsel’s role and tradecraft, relevant case law, and techniques for delivering evidence with clarity and confidence while steering clear of common pitfalls. The training also utilised a mock trial scenario, showing good and bad practice with real case examples from Mary’s career.

The audience of 112 officers and staff had varied levels of experience, from 2-29 years of service, and the session primarily catered to those with little or no prior experience of giving evidence in Crown Court.

We’d like to thank David, Jon and everyone at EMSOU and Leicester police for their aid in delivering this Court Skills workshop, and Mary for her invaluable insights garnering overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees.
