Mary Prior KC and Paul Prior were instructed by CPS East Midlands to prosecute a seven-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court. Following their presentation of the evidence to the Jury, Andrew Woodhouse was convicted of multiple offences over a 20-year period, including rape, coercive and controlling behaviour to women and the sexual abuse of a child. Some of the offences were video recorded. The trial involved some of the most complex legal and factual issues including s28, s41 bad character, hearsay, cross-admissibility. It also required careful examination in chief of main victim of his offending. It required all the expertise of two highly experienced advocates who worked closely with the East Midlands Crown Prosecution Service and Nottinghamshire Police. He is to be sentenced in June 2024.
