Diana Wilson, leading Ali Dewji, and instructed by CPS South East RASSO Unit secured convictions on 24 counts, in a five complainant RASSO case.
The case related to controlling and coercive behaviour, violence, false imprisonment, and rape of five women the defendant was in intimate relationships with when he was aged 16-19.
The six rape convictions included one count prosecuted on the basis of submission, one count prosecuted on the basis of breach of conditional consent and one count prosecuted on the basis of withdrawal of consent during initially consensual sexual activity.
This was a legally and factually complex case involving 31 civilian witnesses and 7 separate telephone schedules. It was defended by an experienced silk and senior junior.
