Derek Johashen recently defended a case at Luton Crown Court, successfully achieving a Not Guilty verdict in a matter involving serious allegations.
The defendant, a 66-year-old man of good character, was charged with possession with intent to supply 20kg of cocaine valued at approximately £2 million.
The defendant had collected the parcels in a lay-by near the M1 from someone he did not know, on behalf of a person for whom he was doing some “cash in hand” work. He said he believed he was picking up Christmas presents. He did not know he was collecting drugs and did not know where he was to deliver the parcels. He could not provide the police or the court details of anything other than the name of the person who sent him to collect the drugs (“Iceman” – also known as “Dave”)
The jury found the defendant Not Guilty.
Derek was instructed by Usmani King Solicitors.
