Human Rights Day is observed annually around the world on 10th December. It commemorates the anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. The theme for 2025 is Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials.
In recognition of this important day, the 36 Public & Human Rights Team has launched a special initiative: ‘12 Days of Christmas’. Over the course of the next 12 days, team members will highlight and discuss a significant human rights case of their choice, with discussions on key facts and its broader significance.
The first contribution is from Tom Wilding, see here.
For day two, Jennifer Lanigan shares her chosen case in the video here.
For day three, Amy Child’s insightful video can be viewed here.
On day four, Samuel Skinner KC provided a special highlight.
Here you can watch Karen Staunton’s video for day five.
You can watch Abiodun Olatokun’s contribution for day six here.
