Sophie joins the bar as a highly regarded solicitor with over three years post-qualification experience. As a solicitor, Sophie has represented clients at every level of Tribunal and Court, including before the Supreme Court and the European Court of Human Rights. Most recently Sophie was a lead solicitor in the judicial review challenge to the government’s ‘Rwanda policy’. She was awarded ‘Times Lawyer of the Week’ for her work on this case.

Sophie has represented vulnerable individuals as well as NGOs and trade unions. Sophie represented the Public and Commercial Services Union in a successful challenge to the Secretary of State for the Home Department’s policy to ‘pushback’ boats in the channel.

Sophie has appeared regularly on BBC News, Newsnight, Sky and CNN, providing legal commentary on refugee law and human rights.
