36 Commercial is delighted to welcome Christian Jowett

Called to the Bar in 1999, Christian has a specialist practice encompassing fraud, regulatory and associated civil matters.

Christian’s fraud practice focuses on revenue and public sector fraud, and associated areas of confiscation and asset recovery law, both criminal and civil; he also handles complex and heavy related offending such as misconduct in public office.

Christian’s regulatory practice focuses on criminal and civil aspects of environmental regulation, but also involves planning, health and safety, and other areas of regulatory enforcement, together with trading standards and related matters. He accepts instructions in all connected civil and regulatory enforcement cases, with a particular interest in environmental law; he was elected a trustee and National Council member of the UK Environmental Law Association in 2017. He is appointed to the List of Special Regulatory Advocates in Health and Safety and Environmental Law (A List).

With an excellent multi-disciplinary background, he and has a particular interest in confiscation and asset recovery, and its interaction with his areas of practice and the areas of property and chancery law, including competing rights under other legislation, such as co-ownership, insolvency and matrimonial finance.
