Saoirse Townshend successfully represents appellant in extradition case
Saoirse Townshend successfully represented an Appellant, a Polish requested person, who appealed an order for his extradition to Poland in Siwak v Poland EWHC 333 (Admin). The Appellant faced a three and a half year sentence for a number of commercial burglaries committed 9-10 years ago. Ouseley J found that there had been significant delay; the Applicant was not a fugitive; and the detrimental effect of extradition on the children, particularly in light of their mother’s mental health issues, was compelling. Ouseley J found that the District Judge was wrong to have found that extradition was a proportionate interference with the Appellant and his family’s right to private and family life pursuant to s.21 (Article 8 ECHR) of the Extradition Act 2003. Saoirse was instructed by Oracles Solicitors.
