Saoirse Townshend successfully represented a very vulnerable victim of human trafficking

22nd March 2019

Saoirse Townshend of 36 Extradition (instructed by Hodge, Jones and Allen), successfully represented a very vulnerable victim of human trafficking who had appealed against his extradition to Bulgaria for trade-mark offences. In Ion Marian v Bulgaria [2019] EWHC 602 (Admin), Lewis J found that it was a combination of features, including that the lack of seriousness of the offence; the fact that the Appellant had been trafficked; and his mental health problems, meant that the District Judge was wrong to order extradition.
