36 Civil welcome Joseph Dalby SC

36 Civil are very pleased to welcome a new Leading Counsel to Chambers. With a breadth of experience in commercial, public  and European Law, Joseph Dalby SC joins the 36 Civil team. 

Joseph began practising in 1988 in the UK.   Joseph has worked for extensive periods in Brussels, and in the Middle East and South Eastern Europe, before joining the Bar of Ireland as well a continuing to practice in London. He was appointed Senior Counsel and granted patent of precedence by the Republic of Ireland in 2015.

His speciality lies in commercial law, statutory regulation and chancery, and the commercial aspects of public law. He specialises in transactions and disputes in respect of contracts of all description and purpose, business activities and assets that are regulated by law, trust or contract, breach of duty (however arising) and economic torts, and government agreements and decisions in relation to funding, finance and commerce.

Throughout the years, Joseph has had substantial exposure to contracts concluded in a competitive environment including public licenses, frameworks, public procurement contracts and service concessions. He also has extensive experience dealing with complex issues of European public procurement law, in both England and Ireland that have either led to arbitrations or the advanced stages of litigation.

Joseph’s areas of expertise cover all aspects of commercial law. He has a strong background in shareholder and investor disputes, intellectual property, debt collection, asset sales agreements, employment, sales of goods and services, insolvency and company law. Joseph excels in cases of regulatory law, including intellectual property, professional qualifications and access to markets or networks. He also has considerable experience acting for both public authority and applicants in judicial review and litigation.
