UK Prosecutions under the United Nations Convention against Torture and questions of immunities

On 5 October Kathryn Howarth was part of a panel at the Government Legal Service, International Law Conference, in Westminster.
She spoke at a session on “UK Prosecutions under the United Nations Convention against Torture and questions of immunities”, in relation to the prosecution of a Nepalese Colonel who had been charged with torture pursuant to the Torture Convention and addressed issues in relation to immunities under international law, which arose in the trial and appellate proceedings in that case at the Central Criminal Court and Court of Appeal, Criminal Division respectively.
