Practice Profile
James prosecutes and defends cases in the Crown Court. He has acted for the Crown and defence in appeals, committals for sentence, and at trial. He also has experience of advising the CPS at pre-charge stages.
James has experience of dealing with a range of cases which span the criminal spectrum, from violence and drugs to fraud and dangerous driving. James takes pride in focusing on the "human" elements of cases, and is adept at working with vulnerable witnesses, complainants, and defendants in particular.
Before entering practice, James lectured in law at university. He taught substantive criminal law, the law of evidence, and mooting to undergraduate students, and was a postgraduate module tutor for Criminal Litigation on the Legal Practice Course (LPC).

Work Undertaken
James' Crown Court practice is growing, and he is instructed currently to prosecute offences of violence against emergency workers, false imprisonment and offences relating to domestic abuse, and dangerous driving.
In terms of defence, James is instructed counsel in cases of alleged domestic abuse. He is representing lay clients charged with intentional strangulation, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH), and breaches of restraining orders.
