Laura Blackband recently prosecuted a challenging and important case at Lincoln Crown Court.
The case involved two child victims, a young boy, profoundly disabled with cerebral palsy and deafness, and his older sister who were sexually abused over several years by their stepfather. The defendant was convicted of multiple offences, including the attempted rape of the boy. The trial was particularly complex, requiring the assistance of several sign language interpreters to ensure full participation and access to justice.
On Friday 16th April, the defendant was sentenced to 19 years’ imprisonment.
