36 Crime are delighted to announce that James Bruce has been selected to join the Treasury Counsel Pathway Scheme. As part of the excellent work that the Crown Prosecution Service does to ensure that all barristers, regardless of their background, have the same opportunities to prosecute, the Pathway takes exceptionally talented practitioners, enabling the brightest and best advocates to seize opportunities and reach their full potential, regardless of their background.

James will be mentored for the next twelve months by current Treasury Counsel as he continues to prosecute and defend in the most serious criminal cases.

James follows in the footsteps of the brilliant Nadeem Holland, who participated in the Treasury Counsel Pathway Scheme and is now a Treasury Counsel Monitoree.

Head of 36 Crime, Mary Prior KC, noted, “We are very proud that the CPS has recognised the talent of James Bruce and that he is being properly acknowledged and rewarded for his determination and skill. This selection reinforces our commitment as a set to providing the highest calibre of criminal barristers to prosecute and defend the most serious and complex cases across England and Wales.”
