John Lloyd-Jones KC and Samuel Skinner, instructed by CPS East Midlands, prosecuted the 3-week trial of Zac Newman, who drove a 3-tonne van into a crowd of people enjoying a Christmas night out in Ilkeston in 2023. He killed one man and injured two others. A Derby jury convicted him of murder. He will serve life with a minimum of 24 years.
